New Site

Tony - 02/May/2009

Notice anything different? I've given the site a new look. This coincided with the move from one web host to another, as I was having many problems with the previous host. Hopefully those problems are behind.

Please check out the Videos section for clips of the girls hamming it up.

The Girls

Tony - 31/May/2007

I've added new pictures of Alanna and Cece in each of their own albums, and also added an album for pictures of both of them.

Spring Portraits

Tony - 14/Mar/2007

Not realizing that getting teeth pulled would be less painful, we gussied the girls up in their easter dresses and hiked on down to Sears for some portraits. This is the only one we could get both of them:

Sisters

R.I.P.

Tony - 14/Mar/2007

A few days ago, one of my second cousins past away unexpectedly at the age of 50. His name was Gerard Di Schino. I had never met him, and had only really heard of him in passing from my dad. For most of my life I haven't made it a priority to get to know most of the east coast Di Schino's. I've come in contact with a couple just by nature of having this domain and website, but I haven't actively sought out making a trek back east. Not for any good reason, mostly just out of lack of motivation, and laziness, and a sense of distance. I've always had good intentions about it, but have never made the time to do it. So I ask myself, why not now? Of course, the easy answer is that I'm busy raising 2 girls with my wife, and that it would probably be best put off for a few years (until its not so crazy to travel with young ones). Of course, delaying a few years could have the same effect if another relative passes that I have never had the chance to meet.

From what I can tell, Gerry was a pretty popular guy based upon all of the nice notes people are leaving on his website. I extend my condolences to his family.

Correction

After some discussion with other family members, it appears that the Damiano Di Schino on the Andrea Doria was not the same person as my great grandfather. This math flunkie totally didn't figure the dates didn't jive, which should have been obvious. I'm not sure if they are family or not (I've always been told all Di Schino's are somehow linked), will update with more info as I get it.

The Andrea Doria

Tony - 13/Sep/2006

Thanks to my GoogleAlert feed, I found this page dedicated to the sinking and rescue of the Andrea Doria, an Italian cruise liner. As a result, I have learned that my great grandfather, great grandmother, and two great aunts were on board the night it collided with the SS Stockholm in the fog off the coast of Massachusetts in 1956. They all survived, however there were many deaths as a result of the collision.

Summer Vacation in Cayucos

Tony - 07/Sep/2006

We spent our annual summer family vacation in Cayucos, a sleepy central coast beach town just north of Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo, and south of San Simeon. It was relaxing, and a nice break from the heat wave in SoCal. We went wine tasting in Paso Robles, Kayaking in the Morro Bay estuary, and golfing in SLO. I've added some pictures to the photo gallery, Alanna, and the rest of us.

Made some changes. Improvements hopefully.
